Pilates

Pilates is practiced worldwide. It is a form of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. Pilates emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement. Pilates uses controlled movements, primarily focused in your “core”. The core, consisting of the muscles of the abdomen, low back, and hips, is often called the “powerhouse” and is thought to be the key to a person’s stability.

Pilates builds body strength, flexibility and endurance. It’s a body conditioning routine that won’t result in bulky muscles. Instead, the movements serve to lengthen your muscles as it strengthens them. With consistent Pilates you will get stronger, more sculpted muscles and gain flexibility. You posture will improve, your joints will be more limber, you coordination and balance will improve and you will develop a better sense of well being.
